Listen to it in your free time

Speak it whenever possible

Hearing and speaking a new language are two very different things. To improve your conversational proficiency at language, you should speak it whenever possible. Set up regular lunch dates with friends who also speak the language or visit restaurants that serve the cuisine and have their menus in the language.

Use your favorite film

One fun way to optimize the learning process is to go back through your favorite films and see which of your DVDs offer dubbing in your new language. Because you are already familiar with these movies and their dialogue, understanding what is said in the new language is easier and also helps you to appreciate inflection and pronunciation in a conversational context.
